Refresher Course on Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats (RSCRB)

Scope

This Refresher Course on Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats (RSCRB) aims to meet the requirement in paragraph 5 of Section A-VI/2 of the STCW Code which states that "seafarers qualified in accordance with paragraph 4 in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats shall be required, every five years, to provide evidence of having maintained the required standard of competence to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in column 1 of Table A-VI/2-1."

This course requires eight instructional hours to cover the subject areas enumerated in Part B - Course Outline.

TRAINING OUTCOMES
Upon completing this training course, the trainee shall fulfill the requirements in Section A-VI/2, paragraphs 5 and 6 of the STCW Code.

In view of the acceptance of onboard training and experience as a means for maintaining the required standards of competence, seafarers must be able to demonstrate the following competencies upon successful completion of this course:

  • right an inverted life raft while wearing a lifejacket
  • start and operate an inboard engine fitted in an open or closed lifeboat
  • use signaling equipment, including pyrotechnics.
